The Freedom of Religion have to be Applied Equally -Nurul Izzah

How can anyone say the freedom of religion only applies to non-Muslims? It has to be applied equally.
In the Quran, there is no specific term to Malays as to how it should be done.” -PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar

-New Straits Times Nurul Izzah rapped over support for apostasy

Above is PKR Vice President’s statement during a forum titled “Islamic state? Which vision? Whose responsibility?” at Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, Subang Jaya. During the forum, Nurul Izzah also stated that we must respect LGBTs and it is not wrong for them to commit the act in private places.

Here is what others said about Nurul Izzah’s statement:

Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, Sultan of the State of Selangor and All Its Dependencies

The chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) Datuk Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa said the Sultan of Selangor was shocked over Nurul Izzah’s statements. The Sultan totally rejected the view that Malay Muslims must be free to choose their religion and could renounce Islam if they wish to do so.

Datuk Ibrahim Ali, Independent Member of the Parliament for Pasir Mas

Datuk Ibrahim Ali labeled Nurul Izzah as ‘budak mentah’ in the field of politics and have not yet understood Islam properly. He said that Nurul Izzah must study Islam properly before making statements on important Islamic matters. When Nurul Izzah said that Malays must also have the freedom to convert to any religions that they choose, then it’ll automatically relates to the issue of apostasy.

The President of PERKASA also asked, “I want to ask her (Nurul Izzah)…after saying all these, which religion does she wants to convert to? Which religion does she herself wants to convert to?”

Dr Hassan Ali, President of JATI

The President of JATI, Dr Hassan Ali said that he was stunned after reading Nurul Izzah’s statement.

The ex-PAS senior leader also said that we are now waiting for the comments from the PAS leaders on Nurul Izzah’s statement. He questioned if the PAS leaders will stay quiet and let these teachings (of religious freedom among Malays) spread? Do they choose not to stop the liberal and plural teachings to spread?

YB Khalid Samad, PAS Member of the Parliament for Shah Alam

Khalid Samad stated that what we want is for the people to choose their religion by themselves. He who had once made a statement that it is not wrong for the Christians to use the name Allah for their god also said that he don’t think that Nurul Izzah promotes apostasy.

My Point of View

Nurul Izzah’s statement was a great humiliation to Islam as well as to our country. In the Federal Constitution of Malaysia, Article 3 (1), it is stated that Islam is the religion of the Federation and in the Article 11 (4), it says that the government of the state and the Federal Government have the rights to control or restrict the propagation of any religious doctrine or belief among Muslims.

So, it is okay for her to let people practice LGBT as long as it is in private? Is her so called human rights so important that it is more important than Islam?

Mursyidul Am PAS, Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat made a statement on the 12th of August, 2009 that it is okay for DAP to disgrace Islam because they don’t know about/ understand Islam, and that Muslims who go against Islam is much worse than the DAPs. So now, what will he say about Nurul Izzah and Khalid Samad?
