Does Irshad Manji Understand Islam?

Someone tweeted to Irshad Manji:

Hi, selamat datang  Is this event catered to Muslim women only? Not gonna include Muslim men? Friday prayer is at about 1-2pm

Irshad Manji answered:

All r welcome, sis. Quran does not prescribe how/when 2 pray. This is man-made, not God-given, ritual. Salaam from KL.

However in the holy Quran, surah Al-Jumuah, Ayat 9:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu’ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew. (62:9)

So how can she tweeted that muslim men can attend her program when it is held during the Friday prayers because “Quran does not prescribe how/when 2 pray”? Does she really know what she is saying?

We do not need a person who claimed to be a Muslim but uses and interpreted Quran to suit her own purposes to talk about Islam in Malaysia!

Two of her programs were cancelled after Malaysian Muslims strongly opposed her programs.

She fights for human right so she must respect the rights of the majority.
